Pictured above is the 4x4 Toyota jeep showing the severe impact of two runaway stallion horses which ran into the road and smashed through the windscreen of the jeep at 1:30am Sunday morning 3 miles from Katie & Leandro's hotel Estancia San Pedro Viejo in Argentina. The horses sadly died following the collision, after jumping a fence and bolting in front of the 4x4. The jeep itself, was declared a complete write off.
It was understood that Katie suffered cuts on her hands, and whiplash to her neck, after the accident. her boyfriend Leando suffered the same, as well as the other 3 passengers in the vehicle, believed to be film crew. Witnesses said that the only reason they survived was due to the sturdiness of the 4&4 and the fact that they were wearing seat belts. Katie, understandably shaken was devastated about the death of the horses.
A source commented, 'The two animals ploughed into their vehicle, with one flying through the windscreen, backside-first, hitting both Katie and Leo simultaneously. Luckily, Leandro reacted lightning-quick, braked hard and swerved violently the moment he saw the horses. Although it wasn't enough to save the horses, undoubtedly his reactions saved the pair's lives, plus those of the three passengers in the back. Katie was far more concerned about the death of the stallions than she was her own injuries.'
She tweeted, ‘I'm so lucky to be alive @leandro__penna saved my life and the others in the car he is a hero to us for this.’ Her spokesperson commented, 'The accident was quite horrific and she was quite shaken up but after she visited the chapel she did get on a horse for five or ten minutes as they were horses at the hotel where they were staying. She was in tears for much of the day and was really nervous the first time she stepped back into the saddle.’
