PlayStation 5 Next-Generation User Experience

Next month, the PlayStation 5 will be released and ahead of this, Sony have revealed the official PlayStation 5 console's user experience (UX). The new UX is completely centred on the player - to ensure a next gen experience and deeper immersion that connects you to the games, and the passion of the gaming community.

The new UX introduces several new features which are designed to make your gaming experience fun, engaging, personalized, and social. For example one of the new highlights is the Control Centre which will give you access to everything from the system at one press of the PS button on the DualSense controller, without even leaving your game.

There is also a new feature called Activities, which is designed to bring you closer to the key elements of gameplay. Activities are displayed via on-screen cards in the Control Centre, which enables you to discover new gameplay opportunities, go back to things you miss, jump directly into levels or challenges you want to play, and much more. Some Activity cards can be put in picture-in-picture mode, so the player is able to view them in-game also.

Navigating through the interface, switching between games, and into online matches will be extremely fast, with an entirely new software stack from the console to the network to bring a next generation experience. The less time you spend waiting to interact with the system, the more time to spend playing games.

Check out the PS5 UX journey in the walkthrough video, which is still in the pre-production stages, but it will give an insight to what to expect when the PS5 launches in November.
