Jaden Smith is highest paid Hollywood child star


12 year old Jaden Smith, son of actor Will Smith, earned a staggering $2 million from his lead role in The Karate Kid thanks to the box office success the remake movie successfully achieved. He was reportedly paid half of this sum - $1 million as an 'up front' fee to star in the movie, his third film and first starring role with actor Jackie Chan. According to entertainment website TMZ, Jaden's management team swiftly negotiated an equal share of the eventual profits made from the hit film.

It took in more than $150 million at the box office, and Jaden received a further $2 million as a bonus. TMZ also estimated that there would have been additional perks within Jaden's contract resulting in an overall figure of $3 million for the young budding actor. Jaden also sung in the theme song for The Karate Kid with Justin Bieber Never Say Never, he is - by far one of the highest paid young actors in Hollywood at present. Jaden began filming The Karate Kid at the age of 10 - two years before its release in 2010 - when he turned 12. He has also appeared in his father's 2006 film, a personal favourite - The Pursuit Of Happiness.
